About Chamonix
Chamonix, situated at the foot of Mont Blanc, is undoubtedly the alpine capital of the world. From December to May mountain lovers flock to Chamonix since it boasts something for skiers and boarders of all abilities, with a chance to enjoy very long runs, tree-lined routes, free riding, beginner slopes and epic off-piste with awe-inspiring scenery and some of the world's steepest and most challenging descents. From June to September, Chamonix becomes the mecca centre for climbing, mountaineering, biking and hiking. Chamonix is a large town, so night owls will also love it here, as there are plenty of buzzing bars continuing late into the night with live bands. Or escape from the party scene in one of the regions excellent cafes and restaurants. There are also plenty of day-time attractions, such as markets, shops and hockey matches, to entertain those who fancy a day off the slopes. Where ever you are your breath will always be taken away by the dramatic scenery when you look up. If you want to venture further afield it is easy to take day trips to neighbouring resorts in Italy and Switzerland, just on the other side of the mountains. Chamonix is the perfect place for weekend breaks (being only 1 hour from Geneva), a weeks holidays, a season, or a lifetime, as you will never run out of things to do or tire of the views.
