Full Description
Les Carroz village, within the Grand Massif ski area is without doubt the best kept secret in the Alps for family skiing. This wonderful alpine village and resort has everything you need including: a great atmosphere, 265km of pistes accessible from the village centre, regular free shuttle bus service, all shops and amenities situated around the lovely picturesque village centre, ample free car parking next to the main gondola from where you can ski the whole of the Grand Massif including Flaine, Morillon, Samoens and Sixt Fer a Cheval. Les Carroz is not a purpose built resort - it is a pretty village with origins of the resort dating back to 1939 when the first drag lift was installed, which at the time was the longest in Europe. It is often said that Les Carroz appears to have its own micro climate with consistently excellent snow and skiing conditions as envied by higher altitude resorts. The main hub of the village is a traditional busy square where you can find cafes, restaurants, numerous ski hire outlets, butchers, bakers, supermarkets, tourist information, cinema, local food specialists, some very nice boutiques and even a nightclub! Marlow's is a great apres ski sun catcher and has happy hour specials, Club 74 is the only club within a 50km radius that fills up with locals and tourists alike from other resorts and towns every weekend. There is also an outdoor ice skating rink in Les Carroz centre which is great fun for children and adults of all ages in Winter. In summer the sports centre offers a heated outdoor pool, tennis courts, a skate park, a brand new fitness and exercise circuit, a beach volley ground, and suggests a lot of varied entertainment. Les Carroz is a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of many main stream ski resorts and makes for a perfect family ski holiday destination.
This luxury, duplex chalet apartment is in a newly-built (2005) sought-after MGM development located in a wonderful part of Les Carroz d'Araches. TrappeursB, the largest apartment in its block, is part of four large chalets consisting of 13 apartments each. There is a private ski locker and ample outdoor car parking space for the use of MyFrenchChalet clients. The chalet's location offers dramatic views across the valley looking up to the slopes of Les Carroz and Flaine. From the lounge or balcony you can even watch the last skiers come down. TrappeursB is a 10-12 minute walk into Les Carroz town centre. Next door to the chalet block is the terminal bus stop serviced by the free regular ski bus in and out of the centre of Les Carroz. The top floor duplex apartment is finished to a luxurious alpine standard. Its luxury furnishings are in the traditional alpine style, produced by local craftsmen with a modern twist. Large patio doors overlook the superb Grand Massif valley, leading out to a perfect balcony. The lounge has ample seating with a large dining table plus a large comfy sofa. There is a large flat screen TV, DVD player, plus VHS recorder and a separate CD stereo plus a small TV/ DVD player on the mezzanine. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size oven, four-ring halogen hob, extractor fan, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with small freezer compartment, toaster, coffee maker and plenty of cupboard storage. Bedroom 1 has a double, large wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps and shelf. It also has an en-suite shower room. Bedroom 2 has twins/double beds, large wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps, as well as a small balcony with full evening sun. Bedroom 3 has twin/double beds and a large cupboard. The mezzanine (with child stairgate on stairs), with two large skylights, has 2 full size singles, 1 pulls out to form a double bed, 1 has a full size single bed under it, plus desk and chair, hooks and storage cabinets. Decor is modern and high quality. The bathroom is fully equipped with a WC, bath/shower, full size wash basin, plenty of cupboards and heated towel rail. There is a separate WC in the apartment. The hall also has a storage cupboard, steam iron, ironing board, hair dryer, clothes airer and ski clothing hangers. The chalet apartment easily accommodates 8-10 people, ideal for a family/families or a group of friends. There are other apartments in the same building making larger groups possible.
