La Plagne - The ResortLa Plagne is made up of an eclectic mix of villages, with accommodation varying from 60's high rise flats to traditional wooden chalet style buildings. Strung out across the picturesque mountain side, the villages are connected until midnight by free buses or the pedestrian lift network. Most accommodation is conveniently located close enough to the pistes that the lifts are within sight of your door! Families are well catered for with plenty of childrens' snow play areas and sympathetic instructors. On The Mountain: La Plagne once had a reputation for endless reds and blues, making it paradise for intermediates whilst experts were less catered for. This is no longer the case! In December 2003, La Plagne was linked up with Les Arcs via the ‘Vanoise Express' - a double decker cable car - which has doubled the ski domain to include 420km of pistes. There is also now access to 2 glaciers - the Bellecote and the Aiguille Rouge! In both areas there are some excellent tree lined pistes ideal for any bad weather days. Beginners are well looked after here too with most the gentle slopes close to the village centres. Boarders will be spoilt for choice with four board parks, two boarder cross and two half pipes. On The Town: Each centre has its own atmosphere with Plagne Centre offering the most variety and even a weekly market. Welcoming bars and restaurants can be found in each area, some with live music and the occasional nightclub. An activity not to be missed is the Olympic Bob Sleigh run with a 1.5km drop, 19 bends and speeds reaching up to 110kph.
