Chamonix Mont-Blanc

Chamonix Mont-Blanc is a spectacular French resort in both winter and summer and being located only 90km from Geneva airport, access is very simple, making long weekends and short breaks very easy. A safe bet for early and late season skiers since 90% of the skiing is above 2000m. Chamonix has skiing for all levels and there is ample to do for non-skiers too. Whatever you do, you can be sure that the views will be stunning plus the food and wine will taste great.

In winter, the valley is made up of a number of small ski areas - Les Houches, Le Brevent/ La Flegere, Les Grands Montets and Le Tour/ Vallorcine - all offering varied terrain and spectacular views of the Mont Blanc Massif. Chamonix caters for all levels of skiing - beginner areas, miles of blue or more challenging red runs for intermediates and gnarly trails on the Argentiere Glacier or the legendary off-piste Vallee Blanche, for the more advanced. If you fancy going further afield, then you can ski in Courmayeur (Italy) and Verbier (Switzerland) - both less than an hour drive from Chamonix.

In summer, Chamonix becomes a playground of alpine adventure - climbing, hiking, mountaineering, mountain biking, so many sports to do. Besides mountain adventure, there is a thriving cultural scene, amazing shops and boutiques, and a fabulous gastronomic offering - including 2 Michelin starred restaurants. The town itself has a charming pedestrianised centre, full of ambiance, bars, cafes, restaurants and shops - plenty to do when you come off the mountain. The smaller suburban villages of Argentiere, Montroc and Les Houches, also offer great access to the mountain trail in a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.

About Mountain School Chamonix

Nico Dunand, a fully French qualified ski instructor born and bred in Chamonix, comes from three generations of ski instructors. He’s trained lots of local kids to get into ski club, skied with happy holidaymakers who come back every winter and has looked after many corporate groups on the slopes. His motto is ‘safe, fun and learn’, which is what makes Mountain School Chamonix a ski school, but not as you know it.

Our Lessons

As well as the traditional full day, half-day and two-hour private tuition for all levels of skier and all ages, we offer our special Mountain School Chamonix packages for groups of kids, adults and families too. Parents will love our special Mountain School Kid Days. Small group lessons for similar ability children at convenient times (typically 10:00 - 14:30), with gouter included, giving you precious time to ski, whilst the kids have fun in the snow too. This is one of our most popular options for English-speaking kids living in Chamonix, as the teaching is done in French in such a way that the kids are learning the language without even knowing it, whilst they learn to ski!
